Good to have you here.
Less planning. One useful next step.
A few things you can say
“Add revise biology” · “Focus for 15 minutes” · “Take a break” · “Play Dunsin” · “I’m tempted” · “Show my protection setup”
These are quick commands on this device. Steady isn’t a connected AI assistant and can’t control your phone, block sites, or start Spotify playback itself.

Your recent moments
A safer space. A working life.
Keep your important tools available. Add real device protection, test it, then make changing it harder with someone you trust.
1. Your important sites
List work, school, email, banking, and health services you need. This list is for testing and setting up exceptions in your blocker; it does not apply exceptions itself.
2. Set up your Tecno phone
On your Tecno, open Settings and use its search bar to find “Private DNS”. On Android 9 or later, choose “Private DNS provider hostname” and enter:
adult-filter-dns.cleanbrowsing.orgSave it, then open the connection check below on your Tecno. Tap “Run Extended Test” and look for CleanBrowsing with the Adult filter profile. Repeat on Wi-Fi and mobile data. This checks the browser’s DNS connection; it does not prove every app or every explicit page is filtered.
Check my DNS connection ↗This free filter leaves mixed-use sites available; it cannot remove individual explicit posts inside them. Private DNS itself has no blocker password. A separate blocker app is needed for passcode protection.
Official Android instructions ↗The provider’s Android app offers a passcode and device-admin protections. Review its permissions together. Ask your mum to choose and keep the passcode privately. Availability and resistance to removal depend on your phone; this is not impossible to bypass.
App & passcode instructions ↗Enable SafeSearch and the content controls inside the social or video apps you use. Avoid blocking a whole platform you need unless you and your mum decide that tradeoff is acceptable.
Google SafeSearch ↗3. Set up your Windows laptop
Use adult-site filtering on Windows too. For stronger restrictions, review a desktop blocker with website exceptions and password locking. Test every essential site before your mum locks the settings. Some features require a paid plan.
For stronger Windows controls, your mum can hold a separate administrator account while you use a standard account, after making sure software you need still works. Don’t share your banking, email, or device-unlock passwords.
4. Test before locking
Use a 24–48 hour trial. Make sure school, work, calls, and payments keep working. These checks are recorded manually.
If an essential service is blocked, ask your mum to review a narrow exception in the actual blocker. Free DNS filters do not offer per-site custom exceptions; custom filtering may require a paid plan.
An agreement with Mum
“Mum, I want help sticking to a healthier routine. Could you keep my blocking-settings password? Let’s test my important sites first, and agree that you’ll help me fix accidental blocks without opening adult content.”
She can support the setup without reading your journal. Agree on how to handle an urgent school or work access problem before locking anything.
What filtering can miss
Domain filters cannot reliably inspect individual posts, private messages, downloaded files, or music lyrics. Some VPNs, apps, device resets, and administrator changes can defeat controls. Stronger restrictions may also disrupt legitimate VPNs and tools.
Read provider privacy terms: a DNS provider processes the domains your device requests. Your journal stays separate.
Compare the official filter options ↗Make room for worship.
Your listening space is Christian-focused, with Spotify links for worship and encouragement. Steady doesn’t control playback in Spotify.
Your listening space
Open these Christian artists in Spotify, or add a worship playlist you have personally reviewed. Asake and Davido are not included in this shelf. External Spotify recommendations and ads are outside Steady’s control.
Your worship pick
Spotify must be installed. Allow the browser’s “Open Spotify” prompt, then press Play in Spotify. If nothing opens, use Open in browser. Steady cannot detect whether the app opened.
Set up Spotify for Christian listening
On Android, open Spotify Settings and privacy → Content and display, and turn Allow Explicit Content off. On desktop, turn explicit playback off in Settings too. Turn Autoplay off so music does not continue into recommendations after your selection ends.
Open the Asake and Davido artist pages in Spotify’s mobile app, then look in the three-dot menu for “Don’t play this artist”, where available. Use normal playlist playback with Smart Shuffle off to avoid added recommendations. These are Spotify settings you apply yourself; Steady cannot lock them, and untagged or collaborative songs may still appear.

A ten-minute switch
Put the screen down. Sit in a shared space or take a short walk.
Get water, tidy a small area, stretch, or work on a simple task.
Talk with someone you trust, pray if you want, or write down what you need right now.
A short prayer
God, help me meet this moment with honesty and patience. Give me strength for one good next step.
You can use a prayer, a quiet breath, or both.
Your space, your way.
Add it to your devices
On Android, open the hosted app in Chrome and choose “Install app” or “Add to home screen” from the menu. On Windows, look for the install option in Chrome or Edge.
Installation needs a hosted HTTPS address or localhost. This local preview cannot be opened on your phone using its laptop localhost address.
Your privacy
Your check-ins, lists, and preferences stay in this browser’s local storage. There is no account syncing, analytics, or automatic report to your mum.
They are not encrypted. Anyone who can open this browser may read them. Clearing browser storage can erase them. Another device will have a separate journal.
The download contains your private check-ins. Store it somewhere you control.
Fresh start
Delete your Steady records from this browser. This does not change any device blocker or your calendar reminders.
